Farm Stands

shop local

Our monthly Farm Stands are an award winning, collaborative effort to provide affordable, locally sourced produce and goods to South Campus.

We partner with student organizations to sell North Carolina grown produce sourced from Farmer Foodshare, a Durham-based food hub and nonprofit. CDS purchases the produce, and in exchange for leading the Farm Stand tent, our partner student organizations keep all proceeds to use towards a food-insecurity related project. All produce leftover at the end of the event is donated to the Carolina Cupboard, one of our on-campus food pantries!

Apply to host a Farm Stand with CDS

Spring 2026 Farm Stand applications are open! Any active student organization can apply. As a Farm Stand partner, your organization will be responsible for having at least 2 volunteers between 3-7 pm on the date of the event, and for providing payment options (Venmo, Cashapp, etc.) and change if accepting cash. If you have enough volunteers, you have the option host an additional table next to the stand to share materials about your work and recruit new members. In exchange, you will keep 100% of the funds raised at the event!

Selection Process:

The priority deadline for Spring 2026 dates is December 5th. Organizations are selected based on the impact that the funds raised will make towards their mission and within the Chapel Hill community. Projects focused on food security and food access will be prioritized if there is a high volume of applicants.

Briefly describe which projects or initiatives you plan to use the funds for. Projects focused on food security will be prioritized in the selection process.
