Chef Erik Takeover

Chef Erik’s culinary journey began in kindergarten. His mother taught him how to make oatmeal, cream of wheat, toast with multiple spreads and eventually, bacon, fried potatoes, and thin pancakes– which he later found out were crepes. By high school, he was working at a Holiday Inn, quickly moving from dishwasher to food prep and cooking. The fast pace and guest satisfaction fueled his passion for the culinary arts.
After five years at Holiday Inn, Chef Erik joined The Sheraton Suites, where he honed his skills in upscale cooking and learned from experienced chefs. He attended the Culinary Arts Program at Akron University and was promoted to Executive Chef just after five years.
In 2007, Chef Erik moved to North Carolina, working at UNC Chapel Hill’s Lenoir Dining Hall and later for Aramark at various locations. He became a Sous Chef at TOL and now at Chase Dining Hall, where he enjoys the building, coworkers, guests, and the challenges of catering and special events.
Chef Erik’s greatest reward is training and mentoring others in cooking and management, seeing many continue in the field. He has a huge impact on our operations, and we are ever grateful to have him on the team!
During this event Chef Erik will be serving Sri Lankan Chicken Curry, Basmati Rice, Sri Lankan Spiced Grilled Cabbage Salad and Kolamba’s Parippu.
