Chef Christian Takeover
Jan 28, 2025 - Jan 28, 2025 | Lenoir Dining Hall
From the picturesque Loire Valley in western France, Chef Christian Chiron brings a touch of his homeland’s charm to every dish he creates. Growing up in a small community surrounded by lush landscapes and fresh produce, Chef Chiron’s culinary journey began with a deep appreciation for quality ingredients and a passion for honoring the farmer and the animal.
Chef Chiron attended L’Ecole Hoteliere Loire Vallee. He trained a number of years in charcuterie. As a young chef, he came to work in a French-style delicatessen in Philadelphia. Chef Chiron owner-operated a luncheonette/ specialty catering establishment. He later relocated to New York, where he owned and operated two other food businesses, cooked in fine dining restaurants, and was in executive catering at the Corning Incorporation headquarters.
Chef Chiron moved to North Carolina in 2012 and began his career with Carolina Dining Services, where he now oversees dining halls and catering.
Chef Chiron’s culinary philosophy is refreshingly simple: focus on creating and eating dishes that celebrate the farmer and the animal. His mantra? “Eat and drink what you like.” With Chef Chiron at the helm, every meal is a delightful journey. Bon Appétit.
Fun Facts about Chef Christian:

- He enjoys soap-making, archery, and reading international news.
- His favorite food is his mother’s Blanquette de Veau. That’s French for braised veal making its way to your heart. Not really. But it does.
