Flu Buddy Program
If you’re feeling under the weather, don’t come to the dining halls! You should get rest and make sure you don’t spread your flu germs all over the dang place. Don’t worry, we don’t want to leave you starving – if you can’t come to the dining halls because of the flu, designate a Flu Buddy. A Flu Buddy is someone who DOES NOT show flu symptoms and can pick up your meals for you.
Here are the two options your Flu Buddy can grab for you:
1. Dining Halls To-Go!
As long as our dining halls are open, your Flu Buddy can pick up meals for you at either Top of Lenoir or Chase dining halls. Simply fill out our Flu Buddy form, then forward the confirmation email to your Flu Buddy so they can show it to the cashiers as authorization to charge your student account. For students with Meal Swipes left, this will count as ONE meal. For students using Dining Flex or Carolina Convenience, your account will be charged the current door rate, plus tax:
Late Night: $10.25
Note: For flu-like symptoms, a bland diet is recommended. No matter how much you want Mountain Dew Code Red and tater tots, you should avoid caffeinated drinks and fried foods – the best foods to help settle your stomach and help you get better are soft, low-fat foods with very little seasoning. Don’t worry, we’ll still have all the good-tasting stuff for you when you get better . . .
2. Rams Market Get-Well Pack!
If you’re really not feeling up to eating cooked food, Rams Market has a Get-Well Pack, which is a pre-packed 3-day supply of food items and beverages from the Market.
Each kit contains:
3 bottles of 20oz waters
3 bottles of additional beverages – $1.89 or less (juice, tea and Gatorade)
3 microwavable cans of soup (10.75oz) – tomato soup, vegetable soup and chicken noodle soup
2 hummus cups with pretzels
2 Chobani yogurt cups
2 fresh fruit – apples, Woot Froot, and/or oranges
2 microwavable oatmeal bowls
2 trail mix or nut blends – Planters Tubes
To have your Flu Buddy pick up a Get-Well Pack for you, simply fill out our Flu Buddy form online, then forward the confirmation email to your Flu Buddy so they can show it to the cashier as authorization to charge your student account. Your Flu Buddy can pick up the Get-Well Pack for you anytime Rams Market is open. For students with Meal Swipes left, this will count as FOUR meals. For students using Dining Flex or Carolina Convenience, your account will be charged $40.00.
